Ready to Pounce Photograph by Jonathan Blair
Botany student Bruce Anderson stalks flies and beetles in a field of African daisies in Namaqualand, South Africa. Such fields explode with color and texture each spring, setting in motion a host of pollinating insects that visit the plants in search of nectar and flower parts. In so doing the insects perform an ancient dance that keeps pollen moving from one flower to the next, ensuring genetic mixing and a healthy new generation of plants. |
