The black-and-white spotted wings of the leopard moth span just 1.8 to 3 inches (4.6 to 8 centimeters). Males like this one sport elaborate antennae that make their gender easy to determine. Females of the Zeuzera pyrina species have simpler, threadlike antennae. In many other moth species, characteristics such as body shape and wing patterns help distinguish males from females.
