Contest Information
COOL PARAGRAPHS

Writing a paragraph is "snow problem" if you follow the tips on page 22 of our January-February issue.

  • Start with a topic sentence that states the subject of your paragraph.
  • Continue with a few detail sentences that tell more about the topic.
  • Finish with a closing sentence that sums up what you want to say.

Ready to give it a try? Think about your favorite winter activity: What is it? Is it an indoor or outdoor activity? Do you do it alone or with friends? Why do you like this activity?

Now turn those thoughts into a cool paragraph. It should have 50 to 100 words. Edit your work carefully, then submit it to the contest.

Prizes

Ten winners will get our polar bear puzzle. And we’ll publish the top three paragraphs online.
