WACKY WONDERS
In the wild, survival is all about adaptations. That's a body part or behavior that helps the animal survive. Floppy ears, big bills, and blue feet are all adaptations. Most adaptations look normal. Others are odd. Some are downright freaky! However, all of these amazing adaptations help the animal live in this wild world.

Beautiful Bird
This hornbill looks like it is wearing a helmet! Actually, it's called a casque. The casque may help support the bird's long bill. It also might help the bird make noise. The empty space inside the casque makes the bird's call louder.

Freaky Frog
Colors help the red-eyed tree frog survive. Its green skin lets it blend into the forest. When a predator tries to attack, it is startled by the frog's big, red eyes. That gives the frog a moment to jump away to safety!
