Habitat Hero Winners
National Geographic Explorer, the International Paper Company Foundation, the National Geographic Society Education Foundation, and Youth Service America are pleased to announce the winners of the Habitat Hero Contest.

Students, teachers, and volunteers at each of the five winning schools worked together to come up with practical plans to turn a part of their schoolyard into a habitat for plants and animals. Schools from all over the country entered, and the winners were chosen from among many fantastic entries.

Each winning school will receive $1,000 to build its habitat. In addition, foresters from the International Paper Company will visit each school to finalize the design and make a presentation on the importance of protecting habitats.

Congratulations to the winning schools and thanks to everyone who entered!
