Frequently Asked Questions
Q. How often does National Geographic for Kids come out?

A. There are six issues for each school year: September, October, November-December, January-February, March, April-May. We developed this schedule after extensive discussions with teachers.

Q. Doesn't National Geographic already have a children's magazine? What's different about the new magazine?

A. In 1975, National Geographic created World, a monthly magazine that goes to children at home. Articles have an entertainment slant. National Geographic for Kids goes to students in elementary classrooms. It is part of our growing commitment to create engaging, high-caliber classroom resources. Topics relate to school subjects, and activity pages hone key skills. Each issue comes with an eight-page teacher's guide.

Q. How much does the magazine cost?

A. School memberships (200 or more students) cost $2.50 per pupil. Magazines come in sets of 20, and each set includes a teacher's guide. Orders must be in multiples of 20, and the order must go to one address. Classroom orders (10 or more students) cost $4.95 per student and include a teacher's guide with every 20 student magazines. Currently, magazines can only be sent to U.S. addresses.

Q. Can I donate a subscription for my (grand)child's class?

A. Yes! After talking with the teacher, please call 800 368 2728 to place the order.
