PUTTING WOMEN IN THE PICTURE
Looking at the newspaper one day, sportswriter Jane Gottesman noticed something. Male athletes appeared in action shots taken during games or races. But photos often showed female athletes sitting still and looking pretty. Gottesman decided that people need to see women as real athletes. So she collected and published pictures of female competitors. Zoom in on sports photography on page 10 of our January-February issue.
